Objectives and Responsibilities of Position
The Commercial Engineering Manager is a sales contributor who develops consultative relationships with specifying engineers, a limited group of select design-build commercial contractors, consultants and/or Facility Management teams to generate company system specifications for Commercial products. The CEM focuses on the Commercial rooftop product line, but does deal with VRF products.
The CEM is responsible in obtaining total system specifications by calling on engineers, selected design build contractors and/or End Users Facility managers. The CEM provides high level application and system selection support, assists clients in understanding the full range of existing and future products and services, and conducts product introduction meetings and product training. The CEM establishes and nurtures a viable partnership with existing engineering firms, contractors, Sales force, and OEM customers.
Standard Work Areas & Processes
Works with mechanical engineering community driving total company system specifications
Communicates Federal, State and Local code compliance requirements and ASHRAE design guidelines
Provides early identification of changing customer and market area requirements; identifying trends, opportunities and threats to the business
Provides consistent, standard reporting as directed by the CDM
Successful, 5+ year track record in customer relations, business management, and sales
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experiences. Engineering degree preferred.
Broad knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service which includes assessing customer needs, meeting quality standard for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
Understands of how to balance local market considerations with the overall corporate priorities of the business
Substantial industry and product knowledge
Broad knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services which includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstrations, sales techniques, and sales control systems
Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and training skills
Expert ability in building relationships, listening, persuading, negotiating, and managing time
Cross-functional leadership skills; viewed as credible by business unit/functional leaders
Sales oriented and team focused
