The SW Engineer IV, through Software Simulation and Application Development Projects, will apply knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electromechanical equipment, and Data Acquisition / Control / Automation devices along with mathematics, physics, thermodynamics, along with various software / firmware to safely and reliably facilitate the production of large quantities of highly accurate product test data on a variety of test equipment in the HVAC Research and Development Testing Facility.
Handles advance aspects of design, development and integration of embedded software components and applications.
Plans, conducts and technically directs projects or major phases of significant projects.
Coordinates the effores of engineering support staff.
Designs and develops Windows Software applications.
Implements software components based on applicable specifications and design.
This person will identify and develop appropriate manual and automated measurement and control processes and procedures and also develop, enhance, and / or specify replacement components for any existing Test System. The person in this position will be responsible to learn company policies and procedures to complete various Product Data Production Projects / Assignments. These functions require great familiarity and solid judgment when interacting with the various Systems.This person will also be responsible for assisting and sometimes overseeing Installs, Troubleshooting, Repairs / Maintenance, Commissioning and Acceptance Testing to a variety of Test Equipment including: PCs, Controller Networks, Data Acquisition / Control / SCADA Systems and the associated devices / equipment. This person should also maintain a degree of familiarity and ability with regard to refrigeration, air conditioning, heating units, electric motors, and other equipment as it relates to test systems throughout the organization.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technical Discipline.
Heavy familiarity with instrumentation and interfacing to various data acquisition and control systems.
3+ years of supervisory / management experience
Experience developing environmental chamber / Test applications
Very experienced developing complex WONDERWARE INTOUCH applications
Minimum 2 years’ experience Ladder Logic design / PLC programming
Knowledgeable in Visual Basic / VBA
Proficient in MS Office applications
Experience in Test Harness development.
Strong computer hardware, software, database, IT / networking skills
Ability to manage computers in a TCP/IP network with working knowledge of security features and issues
Familiarity with human / equipment safety systems, control networks and advanced process control strategies
Systematic approach to problem definition and solution development
Ability to read and understand schematics / P&ID’s
Strong math, physics, thermodynamics skills
Familiarity with HVAC and / or refrigeration Systems
Ability to trouble shoot systems using DMM’s and other instrumentation
Ability to work as a member of cross-functional team
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Excellent verbal and written skills
Experience in developing WONDERWARE SYSTEM PLATFORM applications
Experience in Windows and Windows Server Deployment
